UPS claims the 81291 error is due to an issue with my credit card billing information. But if this were true, how could UPS have billed the same card many times over the past six years without issue? Why don’t FedEx and DHL, or for that matter the local grocery store, have issues with my card?
Much like the U.S. Postal Service, UPS is a bureaucratically snarled, top-down, old-school, stagnant remnant of the last century. The easiest work-around for the UPS 81281 error is to ship with FedEx or DHL. You will likely find they are also cheaper.
