I struggled with this for months. It turns out that the error message is entirely wrong. The problem, for me, was that the credentials file was corrupted. After going to the MS Credential Manager, deleting all the existing entries, and then logging in again the problem was solved. I searched far and wide and never found this answer on the internet. If you have this problem, you should at least try this.
